On October 12, 2021, a UNICEF campaign in Serbia dedicated to raising awareness about the mental health of young people was presented at the Yugoslav Cinematheque, entitled “From My Angle” with a screening of the Canadian film “Connecting Dots”, which was supported by the Canadian Embassy in Serbia. Representatives of the Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia were present.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and empower young people in dealing with everyday life challenges and to encourage them to seek professional help in successfully overcoming it, if they need such help.
After the presentation of the campaign and the exchange of participants’ experiences on the difficulties they encountered in the field of mental health, the audience was shown the Canadian film “Connecting the Dots” in which young people around the world talk about their mental health problems, pointing out the importance of reducing stigma, which prevents young people from talking openly about their problems and seeking help when they need it. Dealing with problems and taking a creative approach in expressing your emotions, such as playing music or dancing, are just some of the positive ways to overcome everyday obstacles.
UNICEF in Serbia will launch an internet platform for mental health in October, in order to provide young people and those who support them with relevant and complete information on mental health and to enable young people to get acquainted with existing services and provide access to online counseling
