The science of family activities is the second of ten topics within the project “Listen first” of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which is implemented in cooperation with the Office for the Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

Listen first is a campaign on science-based drug prevention that aims to point out to parents in an entertaining way through animated videos and written material of an educational nature – a pamphlet the importance of creating a healthy, family atmosphere. Various joint activities of parents with children, such as drawing, cooking, playing board games, which help to develop healthy and open communication between parents and children.

Performing joint activities of parents with children, helps to develop children’s creativity that helps them cope with various everyday challenges and promotes the development of children’s independence.

Quality time spent within the family reduces the risk of engaging in risky behaviors and abuse of psychoactive substances.

Social studies have shown that children who help their parents with household chores have a greater predisposition to grow into more independent, tolerant and easily adaptable people.
