The science of attachment is the first of ten topics within the project “Listen carefully” of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which is implemented in cooperation with the Office for the Fight against Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
United Nations experts who participated in the creation of the project “Listen carefully” aimed to provide the professional and lay public with a different approach in the field of drug addiction prevention, emphasizing that the emotional and physical connection of parents with children has developmental and health benefits for the child. are manifested during childhood and adulthood.
Attachment creates a relationship of trust between parents and children, and in that way parents learn every day to recognize the emotions that children express, from those positive emotions, such as happiness or love, to negative ones, such as sadness or anger.
The self-confidence that a child gains in this way will help him grow and develop, and to approach the realization of his dreams without fear.
The physical affection that the parent shows towards the child, such as a smile or a hug, also significantly contributes to the child’s sense of belonging and togetherness, which significantly contributes to his social development.
