By the UN General Assembly Decision number 42/112 as of 7/12/1987, the 26th of June is celebrated as a day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. This act is a demonstration of decisiveness in reaching a goal – society free of drug abuse.
Bu leaning of the last-year success, the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is celebrated under the slogan “Listen First- listening to youth and children is the first step in helping them grow up safe and sound”. The slogan is the initiative for increased support in scientifically based prevention, and as u such, it is an investment to the benefit of children, their parents and their communities.
The policy of the Republic of Serbia in the field of drug abuse prevention is exactly in line with this slogan and international recommendations. Our The Strategy for the Prevention of Drug Abuse for the period 2014–2021 determines prevention, first of all with children and youth, as an important part in combating drug abuse.
Having in mind that the Office for Combating Drugs will analyze the Strategy and Action plan for the period 2014-2017, as well as start making new Action Plan for the period 2018-2021, prevention in combating drug abuse will remain one of the key areas which – in cooperation with our partners in both public administration, as well as in civil society organizations, we will organize in accordance with scientifically based methods and international recommendations.
