On March 17, 2022, in the premises of the Palace of Serbia, the NGO Re Generation, in cooperation with the Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, organized a Round Table on the presentation of the #BezbedanParty project. Government of the United Kingdom and is implementing the Trag Foundation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of state administration bodies dealing with drug abuse and civil society organizations, which presented the results of research aimed at initiating dialogue between young people and decision-makers on recognizing harm reduction programs as a way to prevent social, legal and health risks of young people as a population at increased risk of psychoactive substance use.
The results of the research indicate that the majority of respondents are of the opinion that it is necessary to increase the level of safety of young people in nightlife through increased control when entering and leaving catering facilities, education and higher level of expertise of catering security workers on harm reduction services.
In addition, the results of research conducted within the project indicated that in order to increase efficiency in terms of education on psychoactive substances, it is necessary to educate peer educators, as professionals in providing assistance to young people in nightlife.
Based on the data collected during the conducted research, the NGO RE Generation has developed guidelines for #BezbedanParty – proposals for improving public policies in order to increase the safety of young people in the nightlife.
The joint action of all relevant actors dealing with the problem of drug abuse, and clearly defined rules of conduct for night service providers, such as management and staff of restaurants, festival organizers, creates a stimulating environment to increase the safety of young people at night life, said the director of the Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Milan Pekić.
