The Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with the Association “Izlazak”, within the project “I choose recovery” organized another in a series of multisectoral meetings in the city of Loznica, which was held on July 21, 2021 in the city administration. Representatives of state bodies and civil society organizations dealing with
the fight against drug abuse were present.
Representatives of local institutions in Loznica, which is responsible for the problem of drug abuse, pointed out that a multidisciplinary team has been formed at the level of the city of Loznica, and a local action plan from 2018 is also being implemented in Loznica and the creation of a healthy environment for children and youth and that it provides for numerous activities, lectures, workshops that will successfully carry out the fight in the field of drugs.
According to the data of the Police Station (PS) entered in the local action plan, in the territory of the city of Loznica in the period from 2013 to 2018, 95 kilos and 414.45 grams of various types of psychoactive substances were seized, most of which was marijuana. 94 kilograms and 948.01 grams or 99.5% in relation to the total amount of seized drugs. For the period from 2013 to 2018, 250 criminal charges were filed against persons for committed criminal acts related to narcotics, and the age structure of perpetrators of criminal acts ranges from 16 to 52 years of age.
Given that the recommendations of domestic and international experts to place greater emphasis in future national documents on a multidisciplinary approach, decentralization and increased cooperation with civil society organizations in the field of drug policy, the city of Loznica is an example of good practice given its multidisciplinary team which operates as part of a local action plan to prevent drug abuse.
