Representatives of the Association of Policemen and Citizens “Safe Community” from Novi Sad visited the the Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia on October 5, and a joint meeting was held on that occasion.
One of the goals of the Association is to promote a life without drugs, alcohol and violence among children and youth. Participating in activities with civil society organizations that have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Office, and hearing their positive experiences, this association approached the Office with the aim of future joint cooperation on improving the position of young people through the creation of good habits and healthy lifestyles.
Most of the attention at the meeting was devoted to young people and the risks that lead to abuse of psychoactive substances, as well as ways of future cooperation in the field of raising awareness among young people through joint activities.
Bearing in mind that the problem of drug abuse is not the problem of only one institution, group, or individual, and that solving it requires multidisciplinary engagement, Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia strives to include all elements of society in solving this problem – state institutions, local self-government units, as well as civil society organizations.
