A conflagration occurred on September 21, and destroyed a large part of the accommodation facilities and property of the Association of Citizens for the Combating Drug Addiction and Other Types of Addiction "Preobraženje". None of the 25 residents were injured, but a lot of material damage was done.
Most of the protégés who are in accommodation, suffer from addiction of psychoactive substances, but there are also people who face other addictionс, such as alcoholism and gambling addiction.
The goal of staying in the rehabilitation center is to provide appropriate help in treating the problem of addiction through occupational therapy, staying in nature and with the appropriate professional help of a specialist specialist – neuropsychiatrist in accordance with the needs of the protégés. Rehabilitation and resocialization of protégés, providing assistance in the treatment of addiction and deviant behaviors through the affirmation of human and minority rights and principles of environmental protection, all with the aim of integrating protégés into everyday life is the main goal of Association of Citizens for the fight against drug addiction and other forms of addiction “Preobraženje”. In order to provide additional assistance to the CSO „Preobraženje“, with which Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, Office provided food products in cooperation with partners.
The accommodation facilities of the Center were frugal, and the conditions in which residents lived were not at an enviable level. The accident in the form of a fire slowed down the work and regular activities of the Association, and the Office invites all economic subjects, organizations, associations, natural persons, and all citizens who are able to, with their donations in the form of money and/or necessary food, furniture, construction equipment, etc., help the Association Preobraženje.
