In the premises of the Palace of Serbia, the Drug Policy Network in Southeast Europe (DPNSEE) organized a meeting during the global campaign 16 days of activism in the fight against violence against women on December 8, 2023. The Network for Drug Policy in Southeast Europe joined the organizers of the EWAVUD 2023 campaign in the desire to contribute to the fight against violence against women who use drugs. The campaign was organized as part of UNiTE’s global campaign against violence against women, which has been supported and organized by the United Nations for more than three decades, which lasts from November 25 (International Day against Violence against Women) to December 10 (International Human Rights Day ).
The assistant minister for human and minority rights and social dialogue, Mrs. Ivana Joksimović, and the representative of the Office for Combating drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Branislava Cincarević, addressed those present, who pointed out that the problem of violence against women is a complex problem that requires a multidisciplinary approach, and that one of the Government’s priority goals is finding effective solutions to combat violence against women, through a series of positive legal regulations and guidelines for working with women who are victims of violence.
After that, the representatives of the NGO Re Generacija, Mrs. Irena Molnar, and the representative of the “Prevent” Association, Mr. Nebojša Đurasović, addressed the audience and spoke about the activities they undertake in the area of damage reduction. In addition, Mr. Đurasović presented a manual entitled “Sexual Work in Serbia” in which the experiences of the Shelter for Sex Workers were presented.
