The Office for Combating Drugs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with its partners, provided funds for healthcare protection meant for vulnerable social groups, in the occasion of the COVID-19 epidemic. On the 29th of May 2020 at the Palace of Serbia, the Director of the Office for Combating Drugs Mr. Milan Pekić gave packages of help to the representatives of the civil organization societies that provide services of prevention, rehabilitation and resocialization of persons facing drug problems. Having in mind their circumstances, as well as measures prescribed by the professionals, representatives of these organizations were given protective masks, gloves and disinfectants.
“The Office for Combating Drugs as a service of the Republic of Serbia, strived in these serious situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic not to forget members of the endangered citizen categories, which must not be left at the margins of the society in these situations. In accordance with the recommendations of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, we tried to enable necessary help to those who need it the most, and those are certainly vulnerable groups of society, among which are the persons with drug problems. Funds were allocated to organizations of civil society that are in direct contact with more than 400 members of endangered categories”, said the Director of the Office for Combating Drugs.
